We would like to answer some of the questions that many people ask regarding Tran's Kickboxing, Thai Kickboxing, Martial Arts Fitness and the benefits that it provides for everyone - Men, Women, Old and Young.

Do I need Martial Arts Experience?

No. Our Programs are for everyone regardless of age or experience. We have Group fitness classes for adults and offer age appropriate classes for children. We offer instruction for all levels of experience.



Are the classes safe?
Yes, safety is a main priority. Our instructors are experts in teaching proper technique and our classes are designed to maximize effort and energy while minimizing risk of injury. In fact, this is a hallmark of Muay Thai training because the fighters train so hard they must stay injury free in order to compete. 



How will I know which programs will be best for me?
Your Tran's Lifestyle Consultant will help you select the right program for your goals. Your consultant will perform an initial fitness assessment when you first become a member to establish a baseline level for you. Next you will work together to set your fitness goals based on your age, overall health and lifestyle and performance/energy needs. Periodically you will get together to review and update your assessment.



Can I meet with your instructors privately?
Yes. By appointment only. We offer extensive One on One training to meet your specific needs.



How often do I have to come?
That is up to you. We recommend at least 2-3 classes/sessions per week.



Is there a martial art that is particularly suited to capitalize on the strengths of women's bodies rather than men's? 
The art of Muay Thai is particularly well suited to develop a favorable strength to power ratio. In terms of pure self defense it is probably the best art for women.



I 'm a little bit older but still interested in starting martial arts. My doctor says I need more exercise but I'm worried about my back.
We can create a program that is right for you, that will strengthen your back and get you back in the game. There is nothing like our programs and individual attention to "turn back the clock" and have you feeling energized, in motion and performing with confidence. I have been wanting to learn martial arts since I was very little but my mom says it brings out anger, but I say it gives you more respect for one another.
Above all we emphasize Respect. Martial arts, at it's core, is the embodiment of respect. Self respect and respect for others is a foundation for martial arts and an absolute requirement for our school. All students are taught to use proper etiquette and trained to use their art to bring out the best in themselves and others. The self confidence and self discipline that students develop naturally lead them to greater levels of respect for all.



I am interested in learning a martial art with the objectives of improving relaxation and focus plus improving subtlety and strength. I already run and mountain bike regularly.
Our martial arts based fitness classes will definitely help you reach your stated goals. Running and mountain biking are great activities but if that's all you do for fitness you may end up limiting your flexibility. Because these activities are basically "linear" in nature they don't challenge you  to develop in all the areas of fitness. That is why most professional athletes cross train outside of their chosen sport. There is nothing like martial arts training to develop you to your maximum potential both physically and mentally.

What are the prerequisites to own a Tran’s Kickboxing License?

What equipment do I need for class?
Depending on the class you will need a Tran's T-shirt and shorts as well as gloves and shin guards. You may also opt for some additional accessories such as hand wraps or ankle wraps. All necessary equipment is available at our pro shops.


How long are classes?
Classes are generally 45 minutes to 1 hour long.


Do you have DVDs of classes available?
DVDs for classes, training, technique, self defense and more will be available shortly. We believe DVDs are a tremendous tool to provide education, motivation and inspiration for your fitness lifestyle. 





Will you help me set realistic goals for my training?
Absolutely. Our main priority is to provide a supportive atmosphere where you can develop yourself and maintain a healthy, successful lifestyle for your self and your family.



Is there contact or sparring in the classes?
Generally, no. Most classes are training and technique oriented to give you the best workout possible and keep you injury free. However, sparring classes will be available and again, safety and respect are emphasized above all.



I want to learn self defense, do you have classes for that?
All of our classes are martial arts based so you will be developing natural self defense instincts as well as your fitness level which is an important aspect of self defense. Our Muay Thai Elites program is an excellent self defense discipline as are the MMA and boxing classes. For more in-depth or specific self defense needs you can work directly with one of our trainers in a one on one setting where you will be able to study additional techniques and applications.



Do you teach self defense for children? 
Yes. We provide non-violent resolutions to conflict. Yet, we strongly believe a child must develop the skills and ability to defend themselves and understand right from wrong. Students will develop greater confidence and self-discipline as they learn how to act and react to the world around them. Our students are treated with respect and are taught to return the same respect toward others.



Can I take all of the classes once I’m a member?
Generally you will work with a consultant and choose a curriculum for a period of 3-6 months. If you wish to have unlimited access to all classes we can make that option available for an small additional fee.



Do you have adult and child classes at the same time so we can come together?
Yes. Most classes will be available during evening hours so parents can attend with their children after school and work.



I want to become more calm and learn to relieve stress, can you help me?
Absolutely. Martial arts training combined with meditation and a healthy lifestyle supported by a network of like minded individuals is THE best way to achieve a calm, centered, confident state of mind.



Why is martial arts the best way to achieve fitness?
For centuries men have developed martial arts as a means to survive and a means for self development. Up until very recently, these secrets were closely guarded as precious jewels. The instinct for survival is a powerful force and motivated men to develop extremely high levels of fitness or "readiness". Martial arts training develops an individual in all areas of physical and mental fitness in order to react to anything and everything with explosive power in any direction. 




Do you train professional fighters?
Yes. Tran's is affiliated and accredited with Master Toddy in Las Vegas, NV. Master Toddy has trained more than 40 world champions and is world re-known for his expertise in developing champions. If you are interested in fighting competitively we can train you. Or emphasis is on respect, winning attitude and champion's mindset. We do not tolerate disrespect, un-sportsman-like behavior or tough-guy attitudes. Our higher level ranking students are held to an even higher standard so as to set a positive example both in and out of the gym.
